I’m a freelance illustrator with a passion for bringing stories to life through children’s book illustrations, editorial art, and character design. My childhood nickname, Marikris, comes from my early years in the Philippines, where my love for whimsical and fantastical stories first began. So many experiences have shaped my work today! Moving to New York City at 10 as a first-generation immigrant opened my world to new inspirations. My love for anime and western comics fueled my creativity, while my passion for fashion led me to study design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. And believe it or not, my time in the US Navy taught me the discipline and work ethic I bring to every project.
My children’s illustrations can be found in “The Missing Red Envelopes” by author Yobe Qiu, a chapter book for kids 7-12 that tells a heart-warming tale of two sisters as they celebrate Lunar New Year with their family in New York City.
